Troubleshooting for EM-Smart

We hope you experience no problems using your EM-Smart and never need this page. However, if you do, we've compiled a list of possible solutions for common issues.


1. Power indicator turns off when the power switch is pressed.

  • Please check if the power supply is working properly or if the emergency stop switch has been activated. Try restarting the device.

2. The driver is not recognized in Device Manager when it is installed for the first time.

  • Please unplug the USB stick and plug it back in.

  • Uninstall the existing driver and reinstall it.

3. After installing the driver, the EZCAD software still indicates that the dongle cannot be found.

  • Check if the driver is installed correctly.

  • Check that the USB cable is connected correctly.

  • Make sure there is no electromagnetic interference on site that could affect USB communication.

4. The message “Cannot open the correct file” appears after the EZCAD software is opened.

  • This is because no correction data is available and the "Use correction data" option is enabled in the F3 parameters. If correction data is available, select the correct path. If none is available, you can disable the "Use correction data" option.

5. No laser beam

  • Please replace the laser unit if it has been confirmed to be defective.

6. No red light from the pointer

  • Press "F3" to check if the port configuration parameters are set correctly.

  • Replace the red light pointer if no red light appears after configuration.

7. No laser beam or red light from the pointer

  • Check if the lens has a cover.

  • Check that the EZCAD software is connected correctly.

8. Uneven laser engraving or marking

  • Readjust the focus. The surface of the workpiece should be parallel to the light axis.

9. Faint red light

  • Clean the galvanometer or the F-theta lens.

  • Check if the red light pointer is defective.

10. The two red light pointers do not overlap.

  • Adjust the small red light pointer.

11. The light path indicator is off.

  • Tighten the arm again and reset the port configuration parameters.

12. The highlighted pattern is distorted.

  • Please change the correction data.

13. "The support arm is tilted, please tighten the screw!"

  • Tighten the screws to ensure the arm is perpendicular to the marking platform.

14. The EZCAD software does not display "Ready".

  • Check that the driver or EZCAD software is installed correctly.

  • Check if the machine is installed correctly or if the USB cable is properly connected.

15. The edited drawing in EZCAD cannot be saved as a file.

  • The marking machine must be connected to the computer and switched on.

16. The red light does not overlap with the laser.

  • Go to “F3” – “Other” – “Red Light Pointer”.

  • Adjust the offset position of the red light and the proportional size of the XY axis based on the overlap of the red light and the laser, and continue to adjust to achieve the perfect overlap.

17. The laser engraving machine works very slowly, even though the speed has been adjusted in the software.

  • Try changing the fill type and line spacing.

18. The EZCAD software displays "Ready" and the red light works, but the machine does not mark or engrave.

  • Adjust the performance settings on the right side of the software.

  • Check that the focus is set correctly while you are marking or engraving.
